The CT Section is a division of the Radiology Department that provides services to inpatients, outpatients and ER patients. Our CT Section uses the new GE Light Speed Ultra 8 Slice Helical scanner to detect conditions of the body. The scanner has the ability to perform volume acquisitions for which sophisticated 2D and 3D models can be performed on independent physician work stations. The CT section also has a second scanner which is the GE Light Speed QXi 4 Slice Helical scanner. Installation of the new Light Speed VCT 64 Slice Scanner in our new CT suite in the Centers of Excellence is scheduled for late 2006. This system will be capable of performing CCTA (Cardiac CT Angiography) procedures.
Some common CT procedures include: head scans to detect tumors, blood clots, enlarged ventricles and other disorders; body scans to detect enlarged lymph nodes, pancreatic disease, back problems and lung cancer.
With this kind of cutting edge technology, CT Images offer greater accuracy and earlier detection with relatively little or no discomfort to the patient. The CT Section at SEMMC is on the forefront offering physicians the best in CT scanning for their patients.
The CT Section is managed by David Fugett RT (R). This section performs over 27,000 exams each year. You may contact the CT Section by calling (479) 314-6200 or by emailing the section manager David Fugett.
