Diagnostic Imaging

The Diagnostic Imaging Section of Radiology is very diversified. We perform procedures that aid in the diagnosis and healing process in a caring environment. Each technologist is registered, licensed, and very knowledgeable in providing the best patient care. Our technologists are dedicated, and strive to meet the Mercy Standards on a daily basis. Each technologist is also involved in the continuing education process.

The diagnostic department consists of the following:

  • 3 radiographic/ fluoroscopic rooms
  • 1 ER radiographic room with 2 chest units and 2 trauma units
  • 2 fluoroscopic cysto units (surgery)
  • 5 mobile units (surgery)
  • 4 portable radiographic units (bedside and surgery exams)

In addition, we also have, located in the Centers of Excellence, a digital Hologic room and in our ICU area, we have a Centricity computerized radiography unit. We have computerized radiography readers placed in the Emergency room as well. These technologies provide physicians with immediate access to exams. It takes many different types of equipment because of the many types of x-rays that are performed. Examples of such exams include: Barium Enemas, Upper GI Series, Lumbar Punctures, Myelograms and routine exams such as Chest x-rays.

The Diagnostic Imaging Section is managed by Gail Bishop RT (R). This section performs over 60,000 exams each year. You may contact the Diagnostic Imaging Section by calling (479) 314-6200 or by emailing the section manager Gail Bishop.
