ABOUT THE HEALTH SYSTEM
About St. Edward Mercy Health System
Since 1905, St. Edward Mercy has brought caring, excellent healthcare to those in need. Located in Fort Smith, Ark., St. Edward Mercy is a general acute-care hospital licensed for 336 beds and serves more than 430,000 residents in 13 counties.
As the largest medical facility in the Fort Smith region, our entire operation is built on the principles of dignity, justice, service, excellence and stewardship for all people who seek diagnosis, treatment and care for their health concerns. View our Mission and Core Values.
In 2002, we opened our $70 million Centers of Excellence with facilities for the treatment of heart disease, a women’s and children’s unit and comprehensive outpatient services. St. Edward Mercy is part of the Mercy SafeWatch eICU Program, which provides monitoring of more than 400 ICU beds across the Sisters of Mercy Health System. The Command Center, the largest in the United States, is based at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis.
In 2010, we will begin using the EPIC software system that will allow access to patient information with the same chart for both inpatient and outpatient services. EPIC’s electronic medical records will provide for Computerized Physician Order Entry and will improve both patient safety and patient outcomes.
