St. Edward Mercy Safe Watch

This telemedicine program, launched in March 2007, supports our patients’ physicians and bedside care team by connecting critical care patient rooms to a remote intensive care unit (electronic ICU).  Using microphones, cameras, and high-speed computer data lines installed in ICU rooms, the Mercy Safe Watch team, located in St. Louis and composed of Board Certified Intensive Care Physicians and experienced ICU nurses, can monitor St. Edward Mercy ICU patients around the clock. Mercy Safe Watch adds another layer of observation, supplementing the excellent care we already provide our patients.  Powerful computer systems help the team recognize early changes in vital signs to recommend corrective actions.  This additional layer of care can result in quicker interventions, reduced clinical complications and improved patient outcomes.
