St. Edward Mercy Intensive Care Unit
St. Edward Mercy’s 38-bed Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
is located on the third level of the main hospital. All ICU rooms
are equipped for cardiac monitoring and provide maximum surveillance,
support of vital functions, and definitive therapy for surgical, medical,
cardiac, and trauma critical patients. Over 2,000 patients were cared
for in St. Edward Mercy’s ICU in 2006.
A new edition to ICU, as of March 26, 2007, is Mercy
SafeWatch. Mercy
SafeWatch is a telemedicine program that connects critical care patient
rooms to a centralized intensive care unit (electronic ICU). Using
microphones, cameras, and high-speed computer data lines installed in
ICU patient rooms, Mercy Safe Watch supports the patient’s physicians
and bedside care team around-the-clock with board certified Intensive
Care Physicians and experienced ICU nurses who monitor St. Edward ICU
patients remotely. Mercy SafeWatch adds another layer of service and
protection for ICU patients at St. Edward Mercy.
If you have questions about the ICU, please contact Priscilla Johnston,
Clinical Nurse Manager, by phone (479)314-6556 or email pjohnston@ftsm.mercy.net.
