Patient Satisfaction
Press Ganey

In January 2002, the Sisters of Mercy Health System launched a System-wide initiative to measure patient satisfaction, focusing on care in inpatient, ambulatory surgery and emergency settings. While not an actual measure of clinical quality, customer satisfaction is an important component of care that can contribute to improved clinical outcomes. When our customers are satisfied with the care and service they receive, both short-term and long-term clinical results are enhanced. The impact of satisfaction on quality outcomes makes improving and monitoring customer satisfaction a key concern for healthcare providers.

St. Edward Mercy Medical Center is committed to service, both to our patients and their families and measures its service through the use of a patient satisfaction survey distributed by PressGaney Associates. The industry leader, PressGaney, allows their clients to benchmark their results with peer organizations.  Press Ganey processes nearly 8.5 million surveys annually.

Whether you come in through our Ambulatory Surgery Center, Emergency Room, or if you are admitted to the hospital, it’s likely that you will you receive our patient satisfaction survey around one week after you go home. These surveys help us to assess the service we provide and analyze and improve upon any items of concern.
