The Genesis Project

St. Edward Mercy Medical Center, being an affiliated with the Sisters of Mercy Health Network, is participating in the broad-based system-wide initiative termed the ‘Genesis’ Project, to transform Mercy’s clinical and business work processes and enhance our information systems.

Beginning in 2004, the Sisters of Mercy Health System placed a dedicated project team to design, develop and deploy the work processes and technology that will support clinical and business needs across Mercy. Once designed, the work processes and technology will be tested at various sites and then sequentially deployed at other hospitals across the System.

Benefits for our Patients

  • Creates a single integrated record for each patient across the continuum of care
  • Physicians, nurses and other clinicians
  • will have access to targeted and timely information along the path of diagnosis and treatment.
  • It will eliminate time-consuming and repetitive collection of patient data by automating care processes and providing reliable technology, nurses and other clinicians.
  • New clinical systems will be designed with safety measures to prevent errors before they ever happen.
  • Information will flow faster and more effectively across clinical processes, so physicians and clinicians waiting for test results can make decisions quickly.
  • Streamlined processes will give all clinical team members more time for hands-on patient care.

More efficient business operations will save you time by eliminating duplicate and unnecessary tasks.
