St. Edward Mercy Medical Center utilizes a proactive approach in quality and patient safety by integrating quality improvement activities and patient safety initiatives. SEMMC conducts an array of quality improvements using initiatives and tools which include:

• Implementation of the Joint Commission's National Patient Safety Goals
• Participation in national and state-wide quality initiatives/collaboratives
  (Hospital Quality Alliance (HQA) & the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI))
• The use of state-of-the-art technology
• Six-Sigma quality methodology, and
• Evidence-based and Best Practices

SEMMC values the needs and expectations of its customers as a high priority. The hospital monitors and analyzes patient comments and feedback to identify avenues of improvement.
