St. Edward Mercy Rehabilitative Services
Rehabilitative Services includes the professional services of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy. The purpose of Rehabilitative Services is to provide the professional services of Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapists to patients requiring assistance to regain optimum physical function after injury, surgery and for those suffering the effects of disabling disease. Patient and family education are offered to allow for an optimum continuation of treatment in the home environment. The services are directed to both inpatients, outpatients and patients admitted to Mercy Rehab, our 22 bed acute rehab unit. Last year 70,000 inpatient therapies were performed along with nearly 10,000 outpatient visits. The outpatient diagnostic and treatment component of Rehabilitative Services is located on the second level of the medical center. The Mercy Rehab is located on the 5200 wing of the hospital. Each area of the department includes whirlpool therapy for treatment of open wounds, therapeutic gyms and private treatment booths.
What types of conditions are treated?
Inpatient
- Post operative care after total joint replacement, back and neck surgery to assist you to regain strength, motion and the ability to walk.
- Rehab after stroke, heart surgery or neurosurgery.
- Treatment of burns and open wounds.
- Rehab to rebuild strength and movement after any prolonged illness.
Outpatient
- Post-surgical Rehab after:
- Total joint surgeries
- Rotator cuff repair
- Repair of athletic Injuries
- Repaired fractures
- Back and neck surgeries
Treatment of:
- Back/neck pain
- Tendonitis/bursitis
- Chronic joint, tendon or muscle pain
- Shoulder pain
- Sports injuries
- Carpel Tunnel Syndrome
- Foot pain, including heel spurs
- Arthritis and Osteoporosis
- Neurological conditions, including stroke and head injuries
- Any open wounds including burns
How do I access your services?
