St. Edward’s Tumor Registry
The St. Edward Mercy Medical Center Tumor Registry was formally established in the fall of 2003. The St. Edward Mercy Medical Center Tumor Registry abstracts approximately 900 cases per year, performs follow-up and reports statistical information regarding cancer cases to the Arkansas Central Cancer Registry (ACCR) as required by the State of Arkansas. Data is subsequently submitted to a national registry which enables public health professionals to understand and address the cancer burden more effectively.
The registry maintains a data base for the following healthcare facilities: St. Edward Mercy Medical Center, St. Edward Mercy Outpatient Surgery Center, Cooper Clinic, Mercy Turner Memorial Hospital in Ozark, North Logan Mercy Hospital in Paris, and Mercy Hospital of Scott County, Waldron, Arkansas.
The St. Edward Mercy Tumor Registry is fully accredited by the American College of Surgeons and receives a full survey by this agency every three (3) years. In 2005, the St. Edward Mercy Tumor Registry received recognition from the Arkansas Central Tumor Registry for achieving Gold Standards for Quality Assurance and for achieving Gold Standards for case finding. Gold awards are presented to facilities that have had data audited and validated for accuracy to at least the 95% level.
