New Physician to Join St. Edward Mercy Clinic – Van Buren

July 1, 2008 – (Van Buren, AR) Dr. Sean Baker will join the St. Edward Mercy Clinic – Van Buren in July. Dr. Baker will work with current Van Buren staff Dr. William Dudding and Stefanie Ellis, APN.

Prior to relocating to Fort Smith, Dr. Baker will complete his residency at Tulsa Regional Medical Center in Tulsa, Okla. Dr. Baker completed his internship at Tulsa Regional Medical Center after attending medical school at Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Tulsa, Okla.

“As a family practitioner, I provide primary care and preventive medicine, and I wanted to provide those services in a smaller community,” said Baker. “My philosophy on practicing medicine is to focus on health and wellness. I want to provide the best quality of life possible for my patients.”

Dr. Baker belongs to the American Osteopathic Association, Oklahoma Osteopathic Association, American College of Family Physicians, and American College of Osteopathic Internists. Since 2004, he has served as a captain in the Oklahoma Army National Guard.

The ability to work for a system with the same goals and objectives was important to Dr. Baker.

“I was attracted to the mission of St. Edward Mercy,” said Baker. “The quality of people with whom I would be working was key. From the CEO to the front desk staff, the people I met were phenomenal. Those are the type of people you want helping you provide quality care for your patients.”

Dr. Baker is married to wife Erica and has two sons: Seth, 21 months and Eli, 7 weeks. He enjoys fishing, hiking, running, martial arts, and SCUBA diving. Volunteer work is important to Dr. Baker as he has volunteered for the Special Olympics as well as serving as a volunteer firefighter and EMT for four years.

St. Edward Mercy Clinic – Van Buren welcomes new patients.  For more information or an appointment, call the St. Edward Mercy Clinic – Van Buren at 479-314-4000 or 866-330-0233. The Clinic is located at 2800 Fayetteville Road in Van Buren.
