Husband-Wife Team Join St. Edward Mercy Clinic

June 23, 2008 – (Fort Smith, AR) Drs. Randy and Donna Beallis will join the St. Edward Mercy Clinic on
June 25. St. Edward Mercy Clinic is part of an effort of the St. Edward Mercy Health System to support recruitment and retention of additional physicians to the community. The husband and wife team are the most recent additions to the Clinic.

Randy and Donna Beallis are both board-certified in family practice, and welcome the opportunity to provide care to patients ages 5 and older.

Prior to relocating to Fort Smith, the doctors practiced together for the past 10 years in Mattoon, Ill. Both physicians completed their internships and residencies at Sun Coast Hospital in Largo, Fla. after attending medical school at Midwestern University in Illinois.

“We are excited about starting in Fort Smith,” said Dr. Randy Beallis.  “I enjoy family medicine because it allows me to take care of all ages. I have the training to take care of all members of the family. I was attracted to medicine in the first place because I enjoy doing the work. I didn’t want to do the same thing over and over. With family medicine, each patient is different. I enjoy all aspects of family medicine and having patients in every age group.”

Working in family practice provides ample opportunities to develop a strong connection with patients. In her previous practice, Dr. Donna Beallis provided care mainly for women and pre-adolescent girls.

The husband-and-wife team looked for a warmer climate and a place where they felt at home in choosing a place to relocate.

Randy and Donna Beallis have three children: Emily, 9, Ryan, 7, and Melissa, 5. The family enjoys many outdoor activities and participates in biking, running, and a variety of other sports.

“We wanted a place where our kids could fit in and where we would fit in to a practice,” said Donna Beallis. “Fort Smith fit our needs.”

Randy Beallis attributes the people as a major reason for choosing to relocate to Fort Smith.

“The people at St. Edward Mercy were centered around building relationships,” Randy Beallis said. “That’s what we are about too. We are very excited to be here and are looking forward to growing our practice.”

St. Edward Mercy Clinic welcomes new patients.  Same-day appointments are often available.  The doctors are providers on the major health plans in the area.
