St. Edward Mercy Medical Center Unveils the
Mercy Hospice Inpatient Unit
June 16, 2008 – (Fort Smith, AR) St. Edward Mercy
Medical Center will unveil its 12-bed Mercy Hospice Inpatient Unit at a dedication
and open house for the general public from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, June
23. The dedication will start at 2 p.m. at the St. Edward Mercy Medical Center’s
Hennessy Center with the open house taking place at approximately 2:30 p.m.
on the fifth floor of the hospital.
The dedication will consist of a prayer and remarks from president and CEO
of St. Edward Mercy Health System, Jerry Stevenson. The open house will be
an opportunity for those from the general public to take a tour of the new
facility.
“The addition of this unit underlines our commitment to provide services
of value to our community,” said Stevenson. “We want people to
be able to stay close to home as they receive care.”
The unit will provide medical, spiritual, and psychosocial support to hospice
patients and their families. The care delivered will be a manifestation
of sustaining the Mercy Difference until life’s close.
