Adolescent (13 to 18 Years)

Adolescence is a transition period between childhood and adulthood. It is a stressful developmental period filled with major changes in physical maturity and sexuality, cognitive processes (ways of thinking and thought content), emotional feelings, and relationships with others. Addressing the healthcare needs of this age group requires not only addressing identified health concerns, but also considering the complicated interactions of developmental changes on healthcare needs, the effectiveness of treatment, health education, and health promotion.

Listed in the directory below you will find some information regarding some of the more common changes experienced and challenges faced by adolescents, for which we have provided a brief overview.

If you cannot find the information in which you are interested, please visit the Growth and Development Online Resources page in this Web site for an Internet/World Wide Web address that may contain additional information on that topic.
