STAFF
Lots of people say Mercy Fitness
is the best thing going.
Here are a few of the reasons.
Many of our staff members have been with us since we opened, so if you’ve
been a Mercy Fitness member for awhile, you probably already know some
of them. But in case you don’t, we’d like to introduce you
to several of the key people who keep Mercy Fitness Center moving ahead
every day.
Hector Mendoza, Director
Since Mercy Fitness Center opened in 1997, Hector has managed the facility’s
operations with the goal of creating awesome health and fitness options
for residents throughout the greater Fort Smith area. As a member of
the Arkansas Governor’s
Council on Fitness, Hector believes that exercise is more than just
moving the body, and he strives to make sure all Mercy Fitness programs
are fun, safe and most of all rewarding. In his spare time, Hector enjoys
cycling, outdoor activities and gardening.
Diane Self, Section Manager
Diane began exercising in fitness centers at 14 and has never stopped
her involvement in an active lifestyle. She began with Mercy Fitness
in 1997 and currently oversees aquatics programming and the Kid Zone.
A 1994 graduate of Ball State University with a bachelor’s degree
in sports administration, Diane’s fitness activities include
swimming, group fitness, weight lifting and all forms of cardiovascular
exercise.
Mandy Jennings, Section Manager
Mandy’s work at Mercy Fitness includes managing all group fitness
programming, kids events, the Body for Life program and the Mercy Roadrunners
Run Club. She’s worked in several capacities within the fitness
center since it opened in 1997. Mandy holds certifications in personal
training, kickboxing, cycling and Pilates and is a gravity group strength
trainer.
Steve Horton, Section Manager
Steve is in charge of the fitness floor and all equipment on it. He’s
been with Mercy Fitness since 2005 and oversees a five-person staff.
Formerly Steve served as a strength and conditioning coach in the University
of Texas system, where he also ran the exercise physiology lab. His educational
background is in exercise physiology with a concentration in rehabilitation.
Paula Lind, Section Manager
Since Mercy Fitness opened in 1997, Paula has worked in a variety of
service areas for our members. She administers Cholestech and Medgem
tests, teaches group exercise classes, assists in blood drives, oversees
the Healthy Menu mail-out, and schedules Member Services desk staff.
Her fitness specialties include choreographing and teaching step classes.
