AARP Driver Safety Courses
AARP and St. Edward Mercy host monthly driver safety education courses for those 17 years and older. Classes are free, but participants must RSVP at 479-314-6016. All classes are held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Sicard Education Center, located in the Centers of Excellence.

BREAST CANCER
To Save a Life, a program funded in part by grants from the Ozark and Arkansas affiliates of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, provides breast cancer education for individuals and groups desiring to learn more about breast health.  Contact Nicole Fletcher, To Save a Life Coordinator, at 479-314-5273 or Nicole.Fletcher@Mercy.net to request information or arrange  a presentation or information session. 

To Save a Life also provides free mammograms and breast diagnostic procedures for un- and under- insured women.  Call 479-785-5700 to schedule an appointment and to inquire about program qualifications.

CARDIAC
Cardiac Rehabilitation
Take control of your lifestyle and learn to manage heart disease through our Cardiac Rehab program. The staff provides education and exercise training for the management of the risk factors that contribute to the development and progression of heart disease. These include smoking cessation, cholesterol management, high blood pressure, diabetes and weight and stress management. This program requires a physician referral and is covered by most insurance following a heart attack, bypass or valve surgery, angioplasty, stent placement or those with angina.  To register, call: 479-314-5616.

CPR
CPR for Healthcare Provider First Time Courses are held twice each year in December and July. For more information contact Christa Aary or Brenda Habersetzer.

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) classes are held on the first and third Tuesdays and Thrusdays of each month. For more information contact Christa Aary or Brenda Habersetzer.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) classes are held the second Tuesday and Thrusday of each month. For more information contact Christa Aary or Brenda Habersetzer.

CPR for Healthcare Provider Recertification Courses are held weekly on Wednesday mornings from 9:00 a.m. until noon. Contact Christa Aary, Staff Educator, at (479) 314-6091 for more details and to register.

DIABETES
Diabetes Self Management Training (outpatient)
The Diabetes Education Program team is as available for individual needs related to meal planning, carbohydrate counting, weight control, gestational diabetes, or impaired glucose tolerance.  A Registered Nurse is available for individual needs related to insulin administration instruction, blood glucose meter instruction, insulin pump training.  A physician’s referral is required. Mercy Water Hogs
Mercy Water Hogs is a non-competitive opportunity for kids and young adults to learn and practice the skills needed to become a proficient or advance swimmer.  Practices are held year round each Monday and Thursday from 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.  Practices are lead by Coach Jeff Smith.
Requirements:
Able to swim a minimum of one length front crawl/freestyle
At least 5 years of age
Female swimmers must have a one piece suit
Have a love of the water!
