Invasive radiology procedures

To avoid a possible delay or cancellation of your invasive radiology procedure(s), please read the following information and notify your physician if any questions or concerns arise.

  • You should come to Outpatient Services within 7 days of your procedure to have “pre-procedure testing” completed (if applicable). Your physician will notify you if this testing is required.
  • If you cannot come to Outpatient Services, please have the necessary pre-procedure testing completed at your physician’s office within 7 days of your procedure.
  • Many tests and treatments require that you do not eat, drink or smoke after midnight the night before your test or treatment. Ask your physician if this stipulation applies to you.

If you currently take blood-thinning medications, there is a possibility that your test or treatment will be canceled. Notify your physician if you have taken any of the following medications within five days of your scheduled test or treatment.

  • NSAIDS – Naproxen (Naprosyn, Aleve), Sulindac (Clinoril), Vioxx, Diclofenac (Voltaren), Aspirin, Celebrex, Ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil)
  • Anti-platelets – Plavix, Pletal, Trental, Ticlid, Persantine
  • Anti-coagulants – Coumadin (Warfarin), Heparin, Lovenox

Make sure to call your physician if you have any questions or concerns regarding your current medications.

What to bring

  • A valid personal I.D.
  • An order from your physician’s office for the specific test or treatment to be completed.
  • Applicable insurance cards.
  • A list of medications you currently take; preferably the actual medications in their original containers.
